Sebelum menjadi presiden, Abraham Lincoln sangat menentang adanya perbudakan di tanah Amerika. Sebagai seorang yang menentang perbudakan, Abraham Lincoln mencalonkan diri sebagai Presiden Amerika Serikat pada 1860.

Abraham memenangi pencalonan sebagai kandidat presiden Amerika Serikat melalui partai Republik, dan memenangi pemilihan presiden beberapa waktu setelahnya.

Abraham Lincoln lahir di Kentuky 12 Februari 1809 dan meninggal di Washington DC pada 15 April 1865 dalam usia 56 tahun.

Bagi sebagian besar rakyat Amerika, Abraham Lincoln adalah sosok besar dan pahlawan yang sangat berjasa dalam pembentukan negara Amerika hingga menjadi seperti saat ini.

Abraham Lincoln hanya menjabat sebagai presiden kurang lebih selama empat tahun, sebelum ia meninggal akibat ditembak pada tahun 1865. Namun, prestasi yang diberikan Abraham bagi Amerika, sangat besar.
